2025 – A Year of Ambition and Progress for AMRIT

As the AMRIT project gains momentum, we are looking ahead to 2025 with optimism and determination. After a pivotal first year of preparation in 2024, where our team organised workflows, assessed existing solutions, and laid the groundwork for our vision, the coming year will see the first tangible outcomes of our efforts.

AMRIT participated in the G7 Science and Technology Ministerial event in Bologna in July

On the 11-12th of July, Laurent Mortier (ARMINES) and Aodhan Fitzgerald (Marine Institute) participated as EC expert to the G7 Science and Technology Ministerial and G7 FSOI events in Bologna, promoting AMRIT and AQUARIUS to high level stakeholders (GSO-GRI, Missions).

AMRIT presented in Brussels to several DGs

Laurent Mortier, the scientific coordinator of AMRIT, was invited by DG MARE to present the project at a meeting attended by three other DGs. He was accompanied by Joanna Post, Director of the GOOS office and Inga Lips, director of the secretariat of our partner EuroGOOS.

National Charts on ocean observing underpin AMRIT’s vision for European marine coordination

The European Ocean Observing System (EOOS) and JPI Oceans have released the first two National Charts for ocean observing in Europe. They showcase Greece’s and Germany’s organisational structure. The approach and information is suitable to underpin AMRIT’s mission to unify and enhance European marine research infrastructures through collaborative data integration and sharing.
